I’ve been home for 6 weeks and already I’m craving Greek food. Fresh greek salad, pita bread, tzatziki ….I want it all. So you can imagine my joy when I stumbled across The Real Greek restaurant in Stratford, Westfield whilst out Christmas shopping. A quick glance and the menu and Yep I’m sold. Lets have lunch….
I went for the Flat bread with Tzatziki and Melitzanosalata. a Auberigne and Halloumi stack and a side of chips.
In all honesty the Tzatziki was a lot more yogurty than I had previously experienced and not as flavoursome as those tasted in Crete; with a lot less cucumber. The bread though lovely wasn’t as soft and fresh tasting as I had hoped. However the aubergine and halloumi stacks were amazing and were cooked in a gorgeous rich tomato sauce which complimented them greatly. Therefore my verdict is that, all in all a very satisfying meal; despite not being quite as authentic as expected.
Verdict: 6.5/10- I would try this chain out again maybe opting for a lamb dish and meze to start. I would also definitely recommend the halloumi!
